Sturm und drang

From wikipedia: Sturm und Drang (the conventional translation is "Storm and Stress"; a more literal translation, however, might be storm and urge, storm and longing, or storm and impulse)

Storm and Urge

I finally bit and took advantage of my company's 18 months zero interest phone loan and got a  Sony Ericsson P990i.

Used to be this little bugger cost 30K Philippine Pesos (about 700 US$) when it first came out.

What a difference a year makes.  I got it now for 15K.

Am I happy with the phone? oh definitely.  I can now read PDF files on the go and do a lot of geeky stuff with it.  I did have to search high and low for a cheap 1GB Sony Memory Stick Pro Duo.  The phone only came with 64 mb card and that won't cut it.

It is something out of the ordinary for me though.  I usually go and get the little phones or the slim ones that fit nicely in my shirt pocket.  Well this time I wanted to try out a big bulky one.

But it is a nice package.  Two megapixel camera, bluetooth and wireless lan connectivity.

I bit the bullet and decided what the heck, I work for a telco I should get a nice phone.

But I still do want a Sony Erisson W880i...you know that phone that holds a gajillion mp3s and can fit inside a cd case. *drool*

Storm and Longing

Ok I was suppose to go to the office on Wednesday (I am currently doing seminars for a couple of folks and the seminars are in a different site).  I passed on it since there was a huge tropical storm raging.  So yesterday I went.

One, because our office basketball team had a meeting before our game scheduled that night (Sucks! we lost by a wide margin, it was one of those games where we couldn't make a basket and the opponents seem to be making every one of theirs...).

Two I had a couple of things to discuss with my manager.

Well I think my timing was good and the storm that caused my postponing the trip by one day was all worth it.

An old coworker was there to pick up her clearance and until that time that I saw her again I never realized how much I had missed her.

And now that I type this I guess it deserves a much longer blog entry than this one...maybe I will make one but not right now.

Suffice it to say, some folks you never know you missed until you see them again.  Some folks you wonder if you miss them and put them at the back of your mind, and the next time you see them all theses emotions flood in.

I'll skip this one for now...

Storm and Impulse

Remember when I had my house renovated earlier this year.  Well my house just went through its first major storm.  And I am unhappy about the results.

Its a good thing I don't see the contractor who built it anymore because I'll shove a lawsuit up his @$$.

At the height of storm Chedeng, my walls were bleeding water.  My first floor resembled a lagoon.

Seems the contractors never finished the sealing work on the walls and the new second floor.  When the storm came to its full effect water was gushing all over the place.

I'll post some pictures soon.  It still pisses me off.

Hey hey

Let me see...

I took a left turn at Albuquerque and then it was dark...

In the interim...

Ateneo went from beating archrival La Salle in basketball to losing two straight.  Damn.

I got back into basketball and I swear my body aches.  Hopefully I get back into form in time for the first game of the office league.

I have been setting up a new training center in the office and its hard work.  More hard work than I have done in the past 4 years.  Old muscles need to be unlimbered.  Brain needs to wake up.

Trying to catch up on Anime.  Fate Stay Night seems good.  Lost track of Naruto and Bleach.

OHHH a new Gundam series will premier!!!!  Gundam 00!!!! *drooolll*

Comics are still on the up and up.  Still able to follow World War Hulk and Countdown.  The new Sinestro War is not to shabby either.

Heroes.  The best TV series this year so far.  Can't wait for season 2.

Which Carebear are you?

Tenderheart Bear
You are thinker, organizer, peacekeeper, and leader all in one. You have a power to command attention and people listen to you. However, you are often so concerned about not hurting others' feelings that you don't tell them what they need to hear and this gets you both into trouble. But you always have loyal friends to help you out.

6 things...

been a long time as per usual operating procedures...

6 things on my mind...

6 -- I think I'm getting a new project.  But there has been no official word yet.  I am excited though.

5 -- Went to Pampanga for a meeting.  We ate lunch at Angeles Fried.  Its a fried chicken place in Angeles City.  Amazing food.  A two piece chicken meal is only 55 pesos.  Tastes like KFC.  Well worth the search if you ever find youself in Angeles City.

4 -- New Business.  Those are the buzzwords right now.  The strategy is to diversify and see what new things folks want.

3 -- House Renovation.  Ugh I hate this but its all for the best.  This was the long overdue fix to the damage wrought by the past super typhoons.  Had to temporarily move into my Lola's place.  Not a bad deal.  My tita is paying for the repairs.  I do miss my cable TV and my computer.  Plus Saturdays are now alloted to helping watch over the construction.

2 -- Comics.  Most of the stuff coming out right now just feels like idiotic story telling and bad art.  Do check out Fables, Y the Last Man and anything about The Authority.

1 -- I gained weight.  CRAP.  All those out of town trips with great cheap food and breakfast buffets.  Sigh.  And its summer.  And beach trips are scheduled already.  I wish I could lose my tummy superfast. :)
